"George Wm. Poole, aged 71 years died early this morning at the City Hospital. Mr. Poole was formerly of near Mt. Philip, where he followed trucking for many years. He had lived in this city for several years past. He is survived by his widow and the following children: Roy Poole, Brunswick; Edward Poole, Braddock; Mrs. Floyd Zimmerman, this city; Mrs. Harry Barnes, Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Roy Shaffer, Middletown Valley; Mrs. Bessie Poole, caretaker of Braddock Heights, is a daughter-in-law. A sister, Mrs. Kate Layman, near Feagaville, also survives. The funeral will take place on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Services at the late home, No. 223 East Sixth street. Interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Thomas P. Rice, funeral director."

"Mrs. Elizabeth A. Poole, widow of the late George W. Poole, Mt. Zion, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Roy Shafer, south of Middletown at 2:30 o'clock Sunday morning of paralysis, aged eighty years. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Floyd Zimmerman, this city, Mrs. Ada Shafer, at whose home she died, two sons, Roy Poole, Burkittsville, and Edward Poole, Braddock. Funeral will take place Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock at her daughter's home. Interment, Mt. Olivet cemetery. Rev. J. S. Adam, of the Middletown Reformed church, will officiate. C. T. K. "Mr. Charles William Poole, 93, of Homewood at Crumland Farms in Frederick, died Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore after a short illness. He was the husband for 68 years of Naomi Maude Wachter Poole. The Pooles had lived in Hagerstown for a number of years prior to returning to Frederick.

Born in Braddock Heights, Md., on Feb. 18, 1912, Mr. Poole was the son of the late John W.L. and Bessie M. Feaga Poole.

Mr. Poole was a graduate of Frederick High School, class of 1930, a graduate of Bliss Electrical School, class of 1932 and received his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland, class of 1936. He was an electrical engineer and division line superintendent with Potomac Edison Co. in Frederick and Hagerstown, retiring in 1977 after 41 years of service.

He was a member of Faith United Church of Christ in Charlesville, Md., and a former member of Christ's United Church of Christ in Hagerstown.

Mr. Poole was a life member and a Melvin Jones Fellow of Lions Clubs International, a former member of Funkstown Lions Club, a member of Frederick Lions Club and a life member of Junior Fire Co. 2.

He was an avid hunter, sportsman and a life member of Tuscarora Gun Club, a life member of Greencastle (Pa.) Sportsmen's Association and a member of the National Rifle Association. He also was a member of Potomac Edison Co.'s Quarter Century Club and a charter member of Potomac Edison Forerunners Club. Mr. Poole and his wife traveled widely in retirement.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Janet Houck and husband, David, of Frederick, and Mary Alice Pruitt and husband, Robert, of Perry Hall, Md.; one son, John T. "Ted" Poole and wife, Patricia, of Frederick; and one sister, R. Elizabeth Remsburg of Frederick. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Joanne Baum and husband, Richard, Sharon Hannaley and husband, Philip, Steven Dorcus and wife, Marcie, Andrew Dorcus and wife, Janice, Alice Roberts and husband, Jim, Cindy Reedy and husband, Jeff, Jenny Sweeney and husband, Chris, Pam Kirby, and Dearest Chandler and husband, Stewart; 19 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, on Monday, Sept. 26, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 10 a.m. in Etchison Memorial Chapel at the funeral home. The Rev. Marilyn E. Washburn, his pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
