Shared note: An electrical engineer, Walter Sloan's first position of importance was with the Western Union Teleg… An electrical engineer, Walter Sloan's first position of importance was with the Western Union Telegraph Company. He helped organize the Fulton Electric Light, Heat and Power Company, and served as its director. He became a director of the Fulton County National Bank in 1936. He was a member of the Republican State Committee of Pennsylvania from 1928 until 1938, and was a delegate to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. An authority on local history, Mr. Sloan was president in the Fulton County Historical Society. He served as trustee, elder and treasurer of the Presbyterian Church of McConnellsburg. He is affiliated with the Free and Accepted Masons, being a member of George Washington Lodge #143, Harrisburg Consistory, and Jaffa Temple of the order of the Mystic Shrine, in Altoona. |
