From Mamam's Notebook: "A farmer and a lumber man. He lived on the farm which his grandfather, William Sloan had purchased in 1762. He also owned other land, part of which was patented by the State. One of nine children. His father died in Indiana County, PA, and he was sent to the Great Cove to live with his aunt and uncle, John and Susannah Sloan. An elder in the Seceder Church."
